Monique Leahey Sugimoto
Monique has been the archivist and local history librarian with the Palos Verdes Library District (PVLD) since 2012. Prior to joining PVLD, Monique was an archivist with the National Archives at Riverside located in Perris, California where she worked with records from various Federal agencies including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. Monique also worked with the UCLA University Archives, charged with documenting the history of UCLA’s administrative offices, academic departments and programs, and the activities of faculty, staff and students.
Before becoming an archivist, Monique worked in the field of national language processing and also taught English, French and ESL. Monique holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in Cultural Anthropology and French and a Masters of Library and Information Science from UCLA.
Monique is a frequent contributor to the PV News where she writes articles on the history of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
